Pyongyang, (June 10, 2024) - Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korea's supreme leader Kim Jong Un, has issued a stern counter-warning to South Korea amid escalating tensions over the distribution of propaganda leaflets and the use of loudspeakers in border areas. The warning was broadcast on North Korea's state television on Sunday.

Kim Yo Jong declared that North Korea would not remain passive in the face of South Korea's actions, which include playing K-pop songs and K-dramas loudly across the border and chanting anti-Pyongyang slogans. She emphasized that unless these activities cease immediately, North Korea would respond strongly. She urged Seoul to halt these provocations to prevent further escalation.

The current border tension has been ongoing for some time, largely fueled by North Korea sending garbage-laden balloons into South Korean territory. In retaliation, South Korea has employed loudspeakers to broadcast popular cultural content and anti-North Korea messages.

Analysts warn that if both countries continue their provocative actions, the situation could deteriorate into a full-scale conflict, highlighting the fragile and volatile nature of the inter-Korean border relations.
