Beijing, June 16, 2024 — Travelers looking for a convenient and comfortable way to travel from Hong Kong to Beijing or Shanghai now have a new option: high-speed overnight 'sleep trains'. According to CNN News, the Hong Kong Railway Authority launched this special service on Saturday, offering a unique travel experience that allows passengers to sleep through their journey.

The new service includes two high-speed trains departing from West Kowloon Railway Station in Hong Kong every evening. The train to Beijing arrives at 6:53 am, while the train to Shanghai arrives two minutes later, at 6:55 am. These trains will take different routes to their respective destinations. The return trips from Beijing and Shanghai depart at 8:00 pm and arrive in Hong Kong at 8:47 am the next morning.

Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee highlighted the benefits of the new service in a press statement, saying, “It will be more comfortable and faster. It will cut travel time by almost half and cover a wide range of destinations including popular tourist attraction cities.”

This innovative travel option is expected to significantly enhance connectivity and convenience for travelers between Hong Kong and two of China's most important cities.
