Pyongyang, June 19, 2024 — During his historic visit to Pyongyang, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented North Korean leader Kim Jong Un with a luxury car, further cementing their diplomatic relationship. The gift, a Moscow-made limousine manufactured by the Russian company Auras, was reported by news agency Reuters.

Upon Putin's arrival in Pyongyang on Tuesday, Kim Jong Un warmly welcomed him at the airport. As part of the visit, both leaders took turns driving the limousine, with Putin initially in the driver's seat and Kim sitting beside him. During their ride, they were seen engaging in conversation. On the return journey after visiting several locations, Kim took over the driving duties.

In addition to the luxury car, Putin also brought other gifts from Russia, including an admiral's knife and a teacup set. This is not the first time Putin has gifted a car to Kim; another limousine was sent to North Korea in late February.

Kim Jong Un is known for his affinity for luxury cars. His collection features various prestigious brands, including Mercedes, Lexus sports cars, Rolls Royce Phantom, and others. He is frequently seen traveling in these high-end vehicles.

This visit marks Putin's first trip to North Korea in 24 years, having last visited the country in 2000. The meeting underscores the ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between the two nations.
