Gaza Strip, 21 June 2024- In a devastating escalation of violence, Israeli airstrikes on Gaza have claimed the lives of another 35 Palestinians, bringing the total death toll to over 37,400 since October last year, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
The ongoing assault, which has persisted for more than eight months, has left more than 85,000 Palestinians injured, highlighting the severe humanitarian crisis in the besieged territory. The Health Ministry reported that Israeli forces conducted four recent attacks described as "massacres" targeting families, resulting in 35 deaths and 130 injuries.
Rescue efforts are hindered as many remain trapped under rubble, compounding the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza.
Despite international calls for an immediate ceasefire, including a UN Security Council resolution, Israel continues its relentless airstrikes and ground operations. The conflict has ravaged Gaza's infrastructure, with hospitals, schools, refugee camps, mosques, and churches among the thousands of buildings damaged or destroyed.
Over two million residents have been displaced by the violence, forced to flee their homes amid the Israeli military's aggressive campaign. The blockade has compounded the suffering, with 60 percent of Gaza's infrastructure now damaged or demolished.
International scrutiny has intensified, with accusations of genocide leveled against Israel at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.
