Yemen, June 22, 2024- The Yemeni army has unveiled an unmanned watercraft named 'Tufan-1', discovered in a shipwreck. This vessel, capable of reaching speeds of 35 nautical miles per hour, is said to have the potential to destroy large ships instantly. It is believed that Tufan-1 was designed primarily to target Israeli ships and their coalition allies involved in the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

On Sunday, the Yemeni army released video footage showcasing 'Tufan-1' for the first time. The footage, aired by Iran's state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), depicted the vessel resembling a speedboat, which almost completely destroyed an anchored ship upon impact.

According to the Yemeni army, Tufan-1 weighs 150 kg and boasts high maneuverability, stealth capabilities, and remarkable speed. The watercraft is reportedly designed for operations near Yemen's coast.

The discovery of Tufan-1 comes amidst heightened tensions in the region. The Yemeni armed forces, in solidarity with Gaza, have previously targeted several Israeli ships navigating the Red Sea, Indian Ocean, and Bab al-Mandab Strait.

In a statement, the Yemeni armed forces pledged to continue their assaults on Israeli military vessels and coalition forces supporting Israel until the attacks on the Gaza Strip cease and the killing of Palestinians is halted. This development underscores the escalating maritime threats and the growing complexity of the regional conflict.
