Residents of southern Europe are affected by heat even in winter. Spain's parks are crowded with people to escape the suffocating conditions. Many people are walking around to relax in the open space. Euro News reported this information in a report on Saturday (January 27).
According to the report, although the three months of December to March are supposed to be cold, the country is not seeing winter now. According to the Meteorological Department, during other years the temperature in the country is 10 to 15 degrees Celsius. But this time in some areas it is rising up to 28 degrees Celsius.
Locals are alarmed by such a sudden change in weather. Many believe that this situation is due to the effect of climate change. Residents believe that if this continues, the area will become uninhabitable.
Not only Spain, but most of the southern European countries are now in the same situation. According to Italy's National Council of Research, December was the second warmest month in the country in two hundred years.
In such a situation, the traders of winter clothes in Rome are counting losses. Compared to last year, the demand for warm clothes has decreased by almost 30 percent.
It should be noted that the Copernicus Climate Change Service of the European Union says that the year 2023 was the hottest in recent times.
