Authorities said that when additional remains were pulled from the muck by rescuers on Friday, the number of fatalities from a landslide that struck a gold-mining community in the southern Philippines had almost quadrupled to 27.
According to updated data from the Maco municipal administration, the number of persons injured in Tuesday's landslide in Masara, in the hilly province of Davao de Oro on Mindanao island, increased to 32, but the number of those missing decreased from over 100.
