Dhaka, Sep 29 (V7N): Samiu Aman Noor, a seventh-grade student, joined the anti-discrimination movement’s final stage, proudly holding the national flag. Despite calling his father to share news of the movement's victory, the 13-year-old could not experience the freedom he longed for, as he was shot and killed during a victory procession on August 5.

Samiu’s father, Md Aman Ullah, recounted the tragic moment, describing how his only son was killed while celebrating the movement's success. Samiu, a class seven student at Siraj Uddin Sarker Vidyaniketan and College in Tongi, lived with his family in Tongi but frequently visited his ancestral home in Chandpur during school vacations. He often stayed at his uncle's house, where his relatives, still in shock, remember him fondly.

As the only son of Aman Ullah, Samiu was the center of his family's dreams. Born after two daughters, his family had high hopes for his future, which were tragically shattered. Samiu was laid to rest in his ancestral village in Kachua Upazila, Chandpur, and his home continues to receive visits from people offering condolences to the grieving family.

His aunt, Sharifa Begum, recalled Samiu as a tall, charming boy who always embraced her warmly upon arrival. She expressed the profound loss the family feels, noting the shattered dreams they had for Samiu. His father, Aman Ullah, revealed that Samiu had secretly joined the movement. On the day of his death, Samiu informed his father over the phone that Hasina had fled the country, and shortly after, he joined the victory procession, where he was fatally shot.

Despite efforts to rush him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the massive crowds and roadblocks prevented timely access to critical care. Samiu was eventually admitted to Uttara Adhunik Medical College Hospital, where doctors tried to save him with blood transfusions, but he tragically passed away.

Samiu’s elder sister, Afrin Aman, remembered her brother's dream of becoming famous, noting how his words became true in a heartbreaking way. She recounted how his tall stature, which he was proud of, may have contributed to the fatal shot that hit him in the head.

Samiu's grieving mother, Shahnoor Aman, tearfully spoke of her son's innocence and their dreams of sending him abroad for higher studies. His tragic death left a deep void in their lives, one that his family and friends will never forget.
