Dhaka, Oct 10 (V7N) — The interim government has announced a nationwide general holiday on the occasion of Autumn Durga Puja, effective from Thursday, October 10. In addition, with the weekend falling on Friday and Saturday (October 11 and 12) and another holiday on Sunday, October 13, the country will experience four consecutive days of vacation.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on Tuesday, declaring the general holiday for October 10 through an executive order. The order specifies that all government, semi-government, autonomous, semi-autonomous, and private offices will remain closed during this period.

However, essential services such as electricity, water, gas, fire service, port operations, cleaning services, telecommunication, internet services, postal services, and vehicles associated with these sectors will continue to operate without interruption. Hospitals, medical services, and related personnel, including doctors and staff, will also be exempt from this holiday to ensure continuity of healthcare services.

Additionally, offices handling critical and urgent tasks will be allowed to remain open as needed.
