Dhaka, Oct 15 (V7N) — After being closed for nearly three months, the Mirpur-10 metro station in the capital has reopened today. The station was closed following vandalism during the quota reform movement in July.

The reopening ceremony was held on Tuesday morning, with Road Transport and Bridge Advisor Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan in attendance.

Mohammad Abdur, Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited, confirmed to the media that the station’s repair cost amounted to 1.25 crore BDT.

The vandalism incident occurred on July 18, when unidentified individuals attacked both the Mirpur-10 and Kazipara metro stations, leading to a shutdown of the metro rail service for more than a month. At that time, then-Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Obaidul Quader, had stated that it might take up to a year to restore the damaged stations.

However, metro operations resumed on August 25, albeit with two stations—Mirpur-10 and Kazipara—remaining closed. Kazipara station reopened on September 20, and now, with the reopening of Mirpur-10, full metro services have been restored.

The reopening marks a significant step towards returning Dhaka’s metro service to normal operations, much to the relief of commuters in the city.
