Dhaka, Oct 17 (V7N) – Labor and Employment Adviser Asif Mahmud has assured the public that the government will take strong measures to tackle the rising prices of goods, which he attributes to extortion syndicates. Mahmud made this statement during the inauguration of the fair-price sale of agricultural products in front of the TCB building at Caravanbazar, Dhaka, on Thursday.

Speaking at the event, Mahmud emphasized that the government is committed to reducing the suffering of the public caused by inflated prices. He highlighted that the *Truckcell* initiative, which aims to sell agricultural products directly to consumers at fair prices, will be expanded. “We will break the violence of these syndicates very soon,” he said, pointing out that syndicates have long been an issue in the country's economy.

He also encouraged entrepreneurs to come up with innovative solutions to help consumers avoid reliance on extortion-driven price hikes.

Labor Secretary Mahmud added that by ensuring farmers can deliver their produce directly to consumers, prices will stabilize. The government has already launched the sale of vegetables via trucks as part of this initiative. He urged the public to report any attempts at obstruction or extortion to the Consumer Rights Department to ensure the success of the program.
