Dhaka, Oct 18 (V7N) — Renowned Islamic law expert and hadith scholar, Allama Mufti Abdul Malek, has been appointed as the new Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. The Ministry of Religious Affairs announced his appointment through a press release on Friday.

Mufti Abdul Malek, a distinguished scholar, holds advanced degrees in Islamic Studies, Hadith, and Fiqh from prestigious institutions both in Bangladesh and abroad. He was a student of the world-renowned Mufti Justice Taqi Usmani, a leading Islamic jurist.

According to the ministry's statement, Mufti Abdul Malek also undertook two years of advanced research on Hadith and Islamic law under the supervision of Sheikh Abdul Fattah Abu Guddah (R.H.), a leading Islamic scholar and Professor of Usuluddin at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Throughout his career, Mufti Abdul Malek has traveled extensively to Makkah, Madinah, Pakistan, India, and Türkiye, where he has presented papers at numerous national and international seminars. An accomplished author, he has written 16 books across multiple languages, including Bengali, Arabic, English, and Urdu.

Additionally, he oversees the publication of the research journal Masiq al-Kawsar, which is released regularly under his guidance.

His appointment as the new Khatib of Baitul Mukarram is expected to bring a wealth of scholarly knowledge and experience to the country's central mosque.
