Dhaka, Oct 24 (V7N) – The government has decided to increase the maximum age limit for entry into government jobs to 32 years. This decision was made during a meeting of the advisory council of the interim government, as per a press release issued by the Cabinet Division on Thursday.
The press release states that the government has provided policy and final approval to the draft ordinance titled "Maximum Age Limit for Direct Recruitment to Government Jobs, 2024." The ordinance sets the age limit for direct recruitment into government, autonomous, semi-autonomous, statutory bodies, and public non-financial corporations at 32 years.
This new age limit will apply to all Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) cadres and will also extend to non-BCS government jobs. For autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, their recruitment rules will be adjusted accordingly, while recruitment policies for defense and law enforcement agencies will remain unchanged.
In line with this ordinance and under the authority of Section 59A of the Public Service Act, 2018, the Ministry of Public Administration will amend the Bangladesh Civil Service Recruitment Rules, 2014. This amendment will introduce a rule limiting candidates to a maximum of three attempts for the BCS examination.
