Dhaka, Oct 27 (V7N)- Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, Adviser for Labour and Employment, as well as Youth and Sports, has denounced recent allegations suggesting that students involved in the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement are forming political parties. Shojib, a central coordinator in the movement, made these remarks during a meeting with European Union Ambassador to Bangladesh, Michael Miller, on Sunday.

The discussion addressed various subjects including child labor, labor laws, creating a supportive work environment in the garment sector, enhancing worker safety, and exploring the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) benefits as Bangladesh transitions from Least Developed Country (LDC) status. The conversation also covered EU-Bangladesh relations and initiatives for social protection.

Responding to the ambassador’s query regarding the alleged political activities of students, Asif stated that now is a time for unity rather than party formation. "Collective action and solidarity are more crucial than political alignments at this stage," he asserted.

On the topic of reform commissions, he noted that ten such bodies have been established to align with public expectations and will soon present detailed recommendations to further national development.

Discussing initiatives from the Youth and Sports Ministry, Asif highlighted the introduction of training programs aimed at empowering youth at grassroots levels. He also mentioned the establishment of a sports institute to bolster the nation's sports sector, a project currently in progress.
