Dhaka, Nov 09 (V7N)- Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources, emphasized the need for a movement that promotes a society free from discrimination. She stated that this movement should extend beyond human society to include animals and the environment. Hasan made these remarks during the closing and award ceremony of the Wildlife Olympiad's national phase held at Viqarunnisa Noon School and College auditorium.
Speaking about St. Martin’s Island, she noted that while ships would operate between November and January, overnight stays would not be permitted in November to protect the island's natural environment. She urged everyone to contribute to forest conservation, cautioning that when wildlife habitats are encroached upon, neither humans nor animals remain safe.
Highlighting the importance of sustainable living, Hasan called for an end to consumerism to mitigate climate impact. She also advocated for a "horn-free Bangladesh" and recommended replacing polythene bags with eco-friendly jute alternatives.
During the event, Rizwana Hasan awarded medals, certificates, crests, and trophies to Wildlife Olympiad winners. She also laid the foundation stone for a new school building and inaugurated the institution’s ICT building.
