Dhaka, Nov 15 (V7N) — The mass graves of 127 individuals, martyred during the mass uprising of the July Revolution, have been identified at the Rayerbazar cemetery in Dhaka. Rifat Rashid, coordinator of the Student Movement Against Discrimination, announced the discovery during a site visit on Friday.

Umama Fatema, spokesperson for the organization, highlighted that many families are still searching for their missing relatives. She criticized the lack of government initiatives to uncover the truth behind the genocide, alleging attempts to obscure the tragedy. Fatema urged the interim government to employ modern technology, including DNA testing, to identify the deceased and create a comprehensive list.

Arif Sohel, member secretary of the Student Movement Against Discrimination, appealed for respect for the martyrs' blood and denounced political manipulation. "Political parties do not recognize fascism. They embrace Mujibism. I still want to believe that political parties will respect the aspirations of the people," he stated.

Rifat Rashid accused political groups of attempting to rehabilitate the Awami League, calling for accountability and transparency. He stressed the importance of recognizing and preserving the history of the uprising to honor the sacrifices made.

The identification of these graves marks a significant step in acknowledging the atrocities committed and providing closure to the victims’ families. The demand for justice and recognition continues to grow, as the nation grapples with the legacy of its tumultuous past.
