Dhaka, Dec 09 (V7N) — The Foreign Secretary-level Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) between Bangladesh and India commenced at 11 am on Monday at the State Guest House Padma. This marks the first high-level diplomatic meeting between the two countries since the transition of government in Bangladesh.
Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Mishri, accompanied by a delegation, arrived in Dhaka around 9 am for this short but significant visit.
The discussions are expected to cover a range of issues, including trade, connectivity, border security, water sharing, and other key bilateral topics. Following the meeting, a lunch in honor of the Indian Foreign Secretary has been arranged by the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry.
In the afternoon, Vikram Mishri is scheduled to meet Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Towhid Hossain at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, followed by a courtesy call on Interim Government Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at Jamuna.
This visit underscores the continued importance of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and India amidst regional and domestic political changes. Indian Foreign Secretary Mishri is expected to leave Dhaka on Monday night after completing his engagements.
