During the National Local Government Day celebration ceremony at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center on Sunday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina cautioned local public representatives against pursuing projects solely for personal benefit. Emphasizing the importance of projects that directly benefit the people, she advised against accepting unrealistic ventures with the expectation of receiving commissions.

Sheikh Hasina underscored the primary responsibility of public representatives to earn the trust of the people, highlighting the correlation between public trust and electoral success. She urged representatives to engage with constituents on a personal level, emphasizing the importance of building rapport with communities.

Addressing infrastructure concerns, the Prime Minister stressed the preservation of ponds, canals, and riverbanks, as well as the maintenance of local water treatment plants. She also encouraged judicious use of electricity, noting the substantial costs associated with power generation.

In addressing electricity pricing, Sheikh Hasina proposed differential rates, suggesting discounted rates for lower-income households while imposing higher charges for excessive consumption. She also advocated for the adoption of solar-powered irrigation systems to alleviate pressure on the electricity grid.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of rainwater conservation as a means of reducing reliance on groundwater sources. These directives reflect the government's commitment to sustainable development and resource management at the local level.
