Dhaka, Jan 07 (V7N) — Following the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government on August 5, Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury confirmed that no accused individuals have been permitted to leave the country under the interim government. His comments came during a visit to the Special Branch (SB) of the police on Tuesday afternoon.
The advisor announced plans to provide temporary employment in various police units to 100 individuals injured during the July-August uprising. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to recruit retired personnel into the traffic department to address workforce gaps.
In response to a question from reporters, Jahangir Alam stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs has not yet received the Reform Commission's report regarding the possible abolition of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
The advisor also revealed ongoing measures to recover funds laundered during the tenure of the Awami League government. "The CID has been directed to expedite their investigation and submit a report on money laundering as soon as possible," he added.
These developments are part of the interim government's broader efforts to ensure accountability and address economic and security challenges following the recent political transition.
