Dhaka, Jan 08 (V7N) — Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain on Wednesday said that although Bangladesh sent a diplomatic letter to India in December last year requesting the return of Sheikh Hasina, they have yet to respond.

The adviser said that he learned about the extension of the former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's visa in India through media reports.

Speaking to journalists at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he said: “Like you, I also came to know about the visa extension through the newspapers. This is a matter for India.”

On Wednesday, Indian media reported that Sheikh Hasina’s visa validity has been extended, allowing her to stay in India legally.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the chief adviser’s Press Wing announced that the government had cancelled the passports of 97 individuals, including Sheikh Hasina, on allegations of involvement in the killings of July-August.

Among them, 22 individuals were accused of involvement in disappearances, while 75 were implicated in the July killings.
