Dhaka, Jan 30 (V7N) — Interim government’s Information and Broadcasting Advisor Nahid Islam has clarified that no decision has been made regarding his resignation from the advisory council or the formation of a political party.

Speaking to reporters after an event on Thursday, Nahid Islam stated, "No decision has been made yet regarding the formation of a political party or resignation. However, I will not be a member of any political party while in the government."

When asked about reports in a national daily regarding his resignation, he responded, "I have seen the report and its circulation on social media. However, the newspaper did not clarify its source. No such decision has been made. If we decide to resign or join a political party, we will announce it officially."

Addressing speculations about his future in politics, Nahid Islam reiterated, "Neither I nor Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud has made any decision regarding joining a political party. We are currently focused on government responsibilities."

On the question of forming a new political party, he stated, "We have not considered that yet. We are actively participating in government activities and have not planned anything beyond that."

Following the fall of the Awami League government on August 5 last year due to a student-led public uprising, an interim government was formed on August 8 under the leadership of Professor Muhammad Yunus. Nahid Islam, along with Asif Mahmud and Mahfuz Alam, was appointed as a student representative in the advisory council.
