Dhaka, Feb 01 (V7N) — The Ministry of Education has stated that there is no justification for time-bound protests demanding the conversion of Government Titumir College into a university, as steps are already being taken to address the issue.

In a statement released on Saturday, the ministry acknowledged the ongoing student movement regarding the demand but assured that the government is actively considering the matter. It highlighted that an expert committee, led by the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), is working on the establishment of a separate university by integrating seven prominent colleges in Dhaka, with special attention being given to Titumir College.

The statement further mentioned that the committee has already initiated discussions with student representatives from these seven colleges to understand and address their concerns. The ministry emphasized that improving the quality of education and infrastructure in these institutions remains the government's primary focus.

"In this situation, staging protests with fixed deadlines is not reasonable. We request all those involved to remain patient and refrain from activities that could cause public inconvenience or disrupt the normal educational activities of students," the statement read.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to addressing the legitimate concerns of students and teachers, the ministry urged protesters to avoid demonstrations that could impact daily life and instead cooperate with the ongoing efforts to resolve the issue through dialogue and policy decisions.
