Dhaka, Feb 08 (V7N) – The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the launch of 'Operation Devil Hunt', a nationwide campaign aimed at restoring law and order in response to the recent attack on students and the public in Gazipur. The decision was made during an emergency meeting with law enforcement agencies held at the Ministry on Saturday.
According to a statement released by the Ministry at noon, the operation will involve joint forces and will target areas affected by the recent violence, with a particular focus on Gazipur. The campaign commenced on Saturday and is expected to extend across the country to apprehend those labeled as "terrorists" involved in the unrest.
The Ministry has promised to provide further details about 'Operation Devil Hunt' in a press briefing scheduled for Sunday.
The move comes amid rising tensions following a violent attack at the residence of former Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque in Gazipur's Dhirashram area, where students and locals were assaulted, leaving at least 20 people injured. In response, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has staged protests, demanding the arrest of the attackers and issuing ultimatums to the authorities.
The government's swift response aims to quell growing unrest and restore stability in the region.
