Dhaka, Mar 13 (V7N) – Shafiqul Alam, the Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, announced that widespread irregularities have been discovered in the construction of 560 model mosques, which were built using government funds. According to Alam, these mosques were wrongly claimed to be funded by Saudi Arabia, but no financial assistance was provided by the Saudi government.

Alam shared this information during a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road on Thursday. He mentioned that the construction of the mosques, costing one billion dollars, was carried out under the rule of the previous regime, which falsely attributed the funding to Saudi Arabia.

He further revealed that many irregularities have come to light in relation to these mosques, prompting the Ministry of Religion to form an investigation committee to look into the matter. The issue was also discussed in the cabinet meeting.

Additionally, Alam stated that the Chief Advisor has instructed the Cabinet Secretary to expedite the recruitment process for filling vacant positions in government agencies. He assured that the recruitment will be carried out quickly, with updates to be presented in the next cabinet meeting.

The briefing was attended by key officials, including Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, Apurba Jahangir, Senior Assistant Press Secretary, Faiz Ahmed, and Assistant Press Secretary, Suchismita Tithi.
