Dhaka, Apr 13 (V7N) – RAB Director General AKM Shahidur Rahman has confirmed that comprehensive security measures have been implemented nationwide to ensure the safe and peaceful celebration of Bengali New Year.
During a briefing on Sunday morning, Rahman stated that security has been reinforced for the New Year celebrations, particularly at Ramna Batamul and other key venues. He assured the public that RAB has coordinated with various organizations to ensure smooth and safe festivities. "We have made all kinds of arrangements," he said, expressing confidence that the event would conclude successfully.
The RAB Director General also highlighted the increased cybersecurity efforts to prevent any propaganda or misinformation related to the Baisakhi festival. Additionally, he mentioned that vigilant measures are in place to tackle issues such as eve-teasing, which can sometimes disrupt the celebratory atmosphere.
Addressing an incident at the art gallery, Rahman referred to a reported act of defacement of a fascist image, stating that an investigation would be conducted to determine whether there were any flaws in the security system. "Action will be taken against anyone found negligent," he assured, adding that those involved would be held accountable after a thorough investigation.
As the New Year is considered an important event in Bangladesh’s national life, Rahman emphasized that RAB’s security presence will continue throughout the country, with measures such as motorcycle patrols, car patrols, check posts, observation towers, and intelligence surveillance.
He concluded by seeking the cooperation of the general public to ensure the successful and safe completion of the festivities. "Let’s make this celebration joyful and secure," Rahman urged.
