Dhaka, Apr 22 (V7N) — Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to the interim government of Bangladesh, will attend the funeral of Pope Francis, the revered head of the Roman Catholic Church who passed away on Monday, April 21, at the age of 88.

The news was confirmed by Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, on Tuesday (April 22). Pope Francis served as the supreme pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church for 12 years, leaving behind a profound legacy of compassion, interfaith dialogue, and social justice.

Dr. Yunus, who is currently in Qatar for the ‘Arthana Summit-2025’ on a four-day visit, is expected to travel directly to the Vatican to pay his respects.

The attendance of Dr. Yunus at the funeral signifies Bangladesh's gesture of solidarity with the global community in mourning the loss of a spiritual and humanitarian leader.
