In the aftermath of a scuffle during the vote counting of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) election, three assistant attorney generals have been relieved from their positions. The President's order led to the cancellation of their appointments, as indicated in a notification issued by solicitor Runa Nahid Akhter on Sunday.

The three individuals affected by this decision are Md Zakir Hossain, Kazi Bashir Ahmed, and Shyama Akhter. Notably, Md Zakir Hossain and Kazi Bashir Ahmed are implicated in a case filed by assistant attorney general Saifur Rahman Chowdhury Saif, who sustained injuries during the incident at the vote counting venue.

The SCBA election, held peacefully on March 6 and 7, took an unexpected turn when tensions arose over the announcement of results. Disagreements emerged between supporters of Nahid Sultana Juthi and Monjurul Haque, candidates for the position of secretary. The clash escalated, leading to physical altercations captured in a viral video, which included an attack on an assistant attorney general.

Subsequently, Assistant Attorney General Md Saifur Rahman Siddique filed a case against several lawyers, including prominent figures such as Barrister Ruhul Kuddus Kajol and Nahid Sultana Juthi, accusing them of assault and vandalism during the SCBA election.

Law enforcement agencies swiftly took action, arresting individuals involved in the altercation. Barrister Osman Chowdhury, Nahid Sultana, and Barrister Ruhul Kuddus Kajol were among those apprehended, with Kajol placed on a four-day remand following his arrest.

In addition, five lawyers, including Kazi Bashir Ahmed and Barrister Osman Chowdhury, were remanded for three days as part of the ongoing investigation into the case.
