Dhaka, Nov 08 (V7N) — Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed has emphasized that the judiciary cannot rely solely on tradition and must undergo reforms to remain relevant to contemporary times.

He made the remarks at a program held at the TSC Auditorium of Dhaka University on Saturday (November 8), marking the Diamond Jubilee and Reunion of the Department of Islamic History and Culture.

The Chief Justice noted that the primary goal of reform is moral rather than administrative, ensuring that the judiciary serves the people rather than power, and becomes the moral guardian of public trust.

He added that over the past fifteen months, initiatives have been taken to enhance judicial autonomy, improve efficiency, and facilitate access to justice, and stressed that this transformation process is ongoing.
