Dhaka, Nov 29 (V7N) — The government has no objection or restriction on BNP Acting Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman returning to Bangladesh, said Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam on Saturday (November 29).
Shafiqul Alam made the clarification in a post on his verified Facebook account, responding to questions about Tarique Rahman’s earlier statement regarding his mother BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s critical health.
Tarique Rahman had expressed that, like any child, he has a strong desire to be by his mother’s side during her illness. However, he said that the opportunity to make decisions about returning to the country is not entirely under his control, and there is limited space to elaborate on this sensitive matter.
Shafiqul Alam noted that the Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus has already expressed deep concern over Khaleda Zia’s health and has sought prayers from the nation for her speedy recovery.
The Press Secretary emphasized that there is no government restriction or objection regarding Tarique Rahman’s return, leaving the decision to the political and personal circumstances surrounding the situation.
