Dhaka, Dec 15 (V7N) — The government will bear all medical expenses of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha and a potential independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, who was critically injured in a shooting incident, an advisor said on Monday.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Government Procurement, the advisor said the political environment in the country remains satisfactory and is expected to become more stable in the coming days.
He confirmed that the Ministry of Finance will allocate the necessary funds to cover Hadi’s treatment abroad, adding that there will be no shortage of funds for the upcoming national election either.
“The Election Commission will receive all necessary allocations according to its requirements,” he said.
Earlier, it was decided on Sunday to send Osman Hadi to Singapore for advanced medical treatment. The press wing of the Chief Advisor stated that Hadi will be transferred at noon via a medical air ambulance, accompanied by a specialized medical team.
All arrangements have been completed for his admission to the Accident and Emergency Department of Singapore General Hospital, the statement added.
The press wing further confirmed that all treatment-related expenses will be borne by the state, and the Chief Advisor has directed the authorities to keep his medical condition under constant supervision.
Sharif Osman Hadi was shot in the head by unidentified assailants on Friday afternoon (December 12) while traveling in a rickshaw near the Bijoynagar Box Culvert area of the capital. The attackers arrived on a motorcycle and fled after opening fire.
He is currently undergoing treatment in critical condition at Evercare Hospital, Dhaka.
