Dhaka, December 28 (V7N) — Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman has resigned from his post to contest in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election.
He submitted his formal resignation letter to the President on Sunday morning, sources confirmed.
According to sources, Md Asaduzzaman signed the resignation letter at around 10:00 pm on Saturday, citing personal reasons for stepping down. Following his resignation, a farewell reception was arranged for him at the Attorney General’s Office. However, no decision has yet been announced regarding the appointment of the next Attorney General.
It has been learned that Md Asaduzzaman will contest the forthcoming parliamentary election as a BNP candidate from the Jhenaidah-1 constituency. He has already received his party nomination. Earlier, he also contested from the same constituency in the 2018 National Parliament election as a BNP candidate under the party’s paddy sheaf symbol.
Md Asaduzzaman, who previously served as the BNP’s Human Rights Affairs Secretary, was appointed Attorney General three days after the fall of the Awami League government. Following his appointment, he resigned from his party position in line with constitutional and professional requirements.
