COX’S BAZAR, March 3, (V7N) - A woman was allegedly raped and murdered in Haldia area of Ukhia upazila, Cox’s Bazar, in the early hours of Monday. The victim, Lala Bibi (30), was the wife of Malaysian expatriate Abdu Shukkur.
Family and local sources said miscreants entered her home around 3 am while she was preparing sehri. Hearing her screams, relatives and neighbors rushed to the scene and took her to hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Her brother-in-law Abdul Alam claimed there were injury marks on her neck and head, alleging she was strangled and tortured after being raped. He suggested a possible link to an ongoing land dispute.
Ukhia Police Station OC Nur Ahmed confirmed that police recovered the body and sent it to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy. He said, “In the initial investigation, some signs of rape or attempted rape were found. There were injury marks on various parts of the deceased’s body, including the forehead, hands and neck. However, the exact cause of death will be known after the autopsy.”
The incident has sparked concern and unrest in the area. Police have launched an investigation to uncover the motive and identify those responsible.
