Anisur Rahman, Election Commissioner, has voiced apprehensions regarding voter turnout in the Upazila Parishad elections amidst Bangladesh's ongoing heatwave. He emphasized efforts to ensure a festive and participatory election atmosphere but acknowledged the challenges posed by the severe heatwave.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with upazila election officials in Sylhet, Rahman assured that the upcoming Upazila Parishad polls would be conducted fairly and credibly, akin to the 12th national parliamentary election. He pledged impartiality and stated that while boycotting elections is a democratic right, he believes people will not abstain from local elections. The Election Commission remains committed to facilitating a free, fair, and neutral electoral process.
