Bangladesh Bank (BB) has issued a clarification regarding recent reports about restrictions on journalists' entry to the central bank. In a circular released on Wednesday, the central bank emphasized that it considers disseminating information to the public as a top priority.

The clarification outlined the appointment of an executive director-level official as its spokesperson, along with two director-level officers assigned as assistant spokespersons to provide information to the media. It also stated that any journalist could obtain information and take BB statements at the main building of the central bank during official hours through communication with the assigned officials.

Additionally, journalists could acquire information and explanations after collecting entry passes from the official concerned, in case of any special requirement. The central bank highlighted its commitment to disseminating information through various means, including holding press conferences, issuing press releases, and regularly publishing economic information and data on its website to ensure free access to information.

This comprehensive approach aims to facilitate journalists' access to information and maintain transparency in the dissemination of information by the central bank. The BB's proactive measures, including the appointment of spokespersons and assistant spokespersons, as well as the provision for journalists to obtain information and explanations, underscore its commitment to transparency and accessibility in providing information to the media and the public.
