Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali has assured that the upcoming budget will make life easier for the general public.

"We are trying to do as much as possible in this regard," he stated to reporters while on his way to the National Parliament to present the budget on Thursday.

The Finance Minister is set to introduce a national budget of approximately Tk7,97,000 crore for the next fiscal year (FY25). The announcement will take place amid ongoing challenges such as controlling inflation, maintaining a robust foreign currency reserve, ensuring a stable exchange rate, and increasing revenue.

This budget will mark the 53rd for the country and the 25th under the Awami League government across six terms. It will also be the 21st budget presented during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's tenure.

The tradition of budget presentations dates back to 1972, when Tajuddin Ahmad, the then finance minister of the post-independence Bangabandhu government, presented the first national budget.

This FY25 budget will be the first introduced by the current Finance Minister, Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali.
