The High Commission of India organized a special interactive session with members of the Diplomatic Correspondents Association of Bangladesh (DCAB) on Thursday in the context of a special training program organized by the Government of India for DCAB members.
The first batch of twenty DCAB members visited India on a week-long program in May 2024.
Addressing the gathering during the event, High Commissioner Pranay Verma highlighted the important role of media in strengthening the bonds of friendship between the people of India and Bangladesh which have been built upon their shared history and culture.
"The media acts as a bridge that connects our peoples, facilitates dialogue and promotes understanding."
The high commissioner underlined the importance of closer engagement between the media of our two countries and their contributions in shaping a positive narrative of the India-Bangladesh partnership oriented towards our shared values and aspirations.
During the event, DCAB members shared the experience of their visit to India and its positive role in enhancing their understanding of recent developments in India and India-Bangladesh relations.
The training program for DCAB members is part of a long tradition of multifaceted capacity-building exchanges between India and Bangladesh.
DCAB President Nurul Islam Hasib said that this was the first time in the 26-year history of the association that they had visited a country as a DCAB delegation.
“It’s an eye-opener visit,” he said.
They visited the Observer Research Foundation, the CII - Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), RIS - Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS), IDSA - The Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses, and the International Solar Alliance Headquarters, among others, during the stay from May 5 to May 11.
“We had a good understanding of Indian development - be it in socio-economic to defence sector improvements. That’s amazing,” Nurul Islam Hasib said, suggesting continuous collaboration with the DCAB.
