Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud reported that 11,450 Bangladeshis are currently imprisoned in 31 countries. The majority, 5,746, are in Saudi Arabia, while smaller numbers are in countries like Portugal, Japan, and Belgium. The minister provided this information in response to a parliamentary query.
Mahmud emphasized that no Bangladeshis are currently imprisoned for mistakenly entering India, highlighting the varying numbers of detainees in other countries, including India, Türkiye, and the UAE.
