Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud accused the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) of infiltrating student and teacher movements against the quota system and the Prottoy scheme pension, claiming the party lacks the capacity for independent actions.

Speaking at the National Press Club, Hasan clarified that the quota system reinstatement was a court decision, not a government action, urging protestors to seek solutions through the judiciary. He criticized the BNP as a "party of parasites," asserting that internal turmoil has weakened the party.
