The first phase of the 57th edition of bishwa Ijtema ended with the last prayer. On Sunday (February 4), devout worshipers flocked to the banks of the Turag river in Tongi to participate in the prayers.
Every entrance to the Maidan, the space between the alleys and the tents, was closed by the arrival of the people. The silence is shattered by the sound of Allahu Akbar, hum and noise of millions of people. This gathering of millions of worshipers spread warmth in Turag even in winter morning. Everyone has one goal - to gain the pleasure of Allah.
Many people have to find speed in the crowd to find their companion. But no one complains even in such a crowd, rather there is extraordinary patience and joy of achievement.
Incidentally, worshipers from different parts of the country started coming to Tongi three days before to join the Ijtema. As most of the worshipers had came, the Ijtema organizers started the speech from last Thursday evening. However, the worshipers had to suffer because of the rain that night.
Due to the dispute between the two sides of the Tabligh Jamaat, this year also the Biswa Ijtema is being held separately. The first phase was led by the followers of Maulana Zubair of Bangladesh. This episode ended February 4. The second phase of Ijtema will be held from February 9 to 11. That episode will be led by the followers of India's Maulana Saad Kandhalvi.
