Dhaka, August 20 — The Ministry of Public Administration is set to withdraw the District Commissioners (DCs) of at least 25 to 30 districts across the country, starting Tuesday. Sources indicate that this move is part of a broader reshuffle in the administration following the recent political changes.

A high-level meeting was held on Monday night in the office of Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain, where the decision was discussed. Initially, the DCs of key districts such as Dhaka, Chittagong, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Khulna, Sylhet, Narsingdi, Barisal, Gaibandha, Rangpur, and Faridpur are expected to be withdrawn.

This reshuffle comes as many of the current DCs, particularly from the 24th batch of BCS, are reaching the end of their typical two-year tenure. The upcoming changes will likely see new appointments, with officials from the 27th BCS batch being considered for these roles.

The selection process for the new DCs will reportedly involve five senior officials who were overlooked during the previous government's tenure. These officials include Nurjahan Khanam and Nazrul Islam from the 24th batch, Nurul Karim Bhuiyan and Farida Khanam from the 25th batch, and Sarwar Alam from the 27th batch.

Further changes to the DC positions in other districts are expected in subsequent phases as part of this administrative overhaul.
