Dhaka, Aug 22 (V7N): Farooq-e-Azam, the Adviser on Disaster Management and Relief, has announced that efforts are being made to communicate with affected individuals and establish contact with India amid the ongoing flood crisis.

He underscored the urgent need to save lives amidst the widespread flooding affecting the nation.

This decision was made during a meeting of the Advisory Council at the Chief Adviser's Office on Thursday. Following the meeting, the adviser briefed the media.

The Disaster and Relief Adviser highlighted the unprecedented nature of the current flooding. It has been decided to coordinate the response efforts with the Army, Navy, and Anti-Discrimination Movement coordinators. Ongoing efforts aim to maintain as much communication with the populace as possible.

Concerning interactions with India, he noted that the flood appears to have arisen suddenly, with reports indicating that India may have released water from its dams. This issue was addressed in the advisory council meeting, and efforts to establish contact with India are ongoing.

He added that the flood's onset was unexpected, with no prior warnings of water releases from upstream. While there is no confirmed information about India's actions, the government is working to establish communication.

Adviser Farooq-e-Azam also mentioned that further discussions on this matter are scheduled for Thursday with the Indian High Commissioner during a meeting with the chief adviser.
