Dhaka, Sept 01 (V7N): Striking doctors have temporarily suspended their work stoppage until 8pm on Monday after Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum assured that those responsible for the recent attack on doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) would be arrested within 24 hours.

The assurance was given during a briefing at the administrative building of DMCH on Sunday afternoon.

Earlier, doctors, interns, and medical students across the country announced an indefinite shutdown of all public and private hospitals, including those at the upazila and district levels, in protest against the assault on physicians and the vandalism caused by a patient's relatives at the DMCH emergency department.

In response to the incident, two separate investigation committees have been formed to examine the events and address allegations of negligence in treatment.
