Rajshahi, Sep 07 (V7N) - Religious Advisor Dr. A.F.M. Khalid Hossain has stated that the interim government will avoid making any decisions on the national anthem that could generate controversy.
He made these comments before a meeting with representatives from various religions at the Rajshahi Islamic Foundation on Saturday at noon.
Dr. Hossain highlighted that the government is currently focused on maintaining law and order and is not inclined to take any actions that might lead to disputes. The aim is to foster a harmonious Bangladesh with contributions from everyone.
Regarding attacks on religious sites, Dr. Hossain denounced these acts as despicable, labeling those who target mosques, temples, and shrines as enemies of humanity and criminals. He assured that they will be dealt with according to existing laws. For Durga Puja, security will be enhanced by involving local residents and madrasa students in guarding temples to prevent any attacks or disruptions. He also refuted previous claims that madrasa students were involved in extremism, attributing such allegations to conspiracies and false propaganda by the former government.
In response to reports of potential attacks by the Hindu Mahasabha on the Bangladesh cricket team, Dr. Hossain expressed a desire for friendly relations with neighboring India and noted that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will address any related issues.
He further mentioned that since the change in government, there have been attacks on homes belonging to both Hindu and Muslim communities. He emphasized that these incidents should be viewed uniformly and reaffirmed the current government's commitment to ensuring the safety of all citizens.
