Sirajganj, Nov 06 (V7N) — Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Water Resources, announced that future development projects will prioritize local community input through area-based public hearings. During a visit to the Raksha Dam in Sirajganj on Wednesday, Rizwana Hasan emphasized her commitment to personally attend each hearing, underscoring the importance of community participation in decision-making.

"I have directed all concerned officials to implement public hearings before initiating any projects, especially in sensitive areas," she stated. Rizwana Hasan highlighted the need for careful planning to prevent water pollution, particularly near industrial parks and factories located along riverbanks. She called for strict oversight to protect river ecosystems and stressed that support for the homeless and flood-affected residents should be prioritized in these initiatives.

The visit saw the presence of key local officials, including Sirajganj Deputy Commissioner Md Nazrul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganapati Roy, Sirajganj Press Club President Harun Or Rashid Khan Hasan, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Manowar Hossain, and senior representatives from the District Administration and Water Development Board. Local media members were also in attendance, underscoring the community’s engagement in environmental concerns and resource management.
