Mongla , Nov 02, V7N- A coal-carrying cargo ship was damaged after being struck by an LPG transport vessel in the Karamjol area of the Pashur River at Mongla Port. Additionally, a fishing trawler capsized due to the collision, resulting in one fisherman going missing. The Coast Guard's diving team is conducting operations at the accident site to search for the missing fisherman.
According to the Mongla Coast Guard, the LPG cargo ship 'MV Era Star' collided with the coal-carrying cargo vessel 'MV Mizan' on Friday night in the Karamjol area of the Pashur Channel. The bow of the 'MV Mizan' sustained significant damage in the collision. Furthermore, the impact caused a nearby crab-fishing trawler to sink, leading to the disappearance of the fisherman Lokman Howlader (18), who fell into the river. Lokman is a resident of Ruokata village in the Dacope upazila of Khulna district.
Rescue operations began immediately that night, involving the Coast Guard's diving team and two patrol units to locate the missing fisherman. In addition, the Coast Guard safely removed the damaged cargo ship 'MV Mizan' using salvage vessels provided by the port authority.
