Dhaka, Sep 23 (V7N) – The Defence Journalist Association of Bangladesh (DJAB) and the Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (CRAB) have strongly condemned the forced resignation of DJAB President Alamgir Hossain from his position as chief news editor of The Daily Shomoyer Alo.

In separate statements released on Friday, DJAB Office Secretary Ismail Hossain Imu and CRAB Office Secretary Kamal Hossain Talukdar expressed their outrage over the incident.

They detailed that on the evening of September 17, a group allegedly conspired with outsiders to create a "mob situation" that coerced Alamgir Hossain into stepping down from his role. According to the statements, this group had been plotting to remove senior staff members, including the acting editor and publisher of Shomoyer Alo.

The situation escalated when a group of 30-40 individuals, allegedly posing as members of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, stormed the office and used threats and aggression to seize control. During the incident, insiders reportedly collaborated with the group to level false accusations against Alamgir, effectively forcing him into resignation.

CRAB President Kamruzzaman Khan, General Secretary Sirajul Islam, and other executive committee members condemned the forced dismissal. Similarly, DJAB General Secretary Ahmad Ullah and the executive committee protested the decision, denouncing the unfounded allegations.

DJAB emphasized that Alamgir Hossain, a respected journalist known for his work in military affairs and crime reporting, has been the target of a conspiracy. They urged authorities to take appropriate action to address the situation.

Alamgir Hossain expressed his shock and disappointment at the malicious plot against him, stressing that it was a deliberate effort to misrepresent him amid the current political climate.
