DHAKA, Jan 15, (V7N) - In a significant move to modernize trade operations, Bangladesh will enforce the mandatory submission of certificates, licenses, and permits (CLP) through the Bangladesh Single Window (BSW) system for seven key government agencies starting February 1, 2025.
According to a recent notification by the National Board of Revenue (NBR), manual CLP submissions will no longer be accepted after January 31, 2025. This landmark decision is part of the government’s commitment to streamline import and export procedures and enhance trade efficiency.
The directive will be applicable to the following seven organizations:
Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA)
Export Promotion Bureau (EPB)
Department of Explosives (DoEX)
Bangladesh National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC)
Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA)
Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA)
Department of Environment (DoE)
The BSW system, developed and implemented by the NBR, serves as a centralized digital platform to simplify and accelerate the CLP application and approval process. Importers and exporters can easily register using their Business Identification Number (BIN) and submit all required documentation electronically.
Government officials have emphasized the numerous advantages of the BSW system. These include increased transparency and accountability due to reduced human interaction, significant time and cost savings for businesses, and synchronized online processing by all relevant agencies. This digital transition is expected to foster greater trust among both domestic and international trading partners.
Initially, this mandatory digital submission applies to seven of the 19 CLP-issuing agencies, marking the first phase of the government's broader digital transformation in trade facilitation.
