Dhaka, Dec 28 (V7N) — Gold prices in Bangladesh have reached an all-time high following a fresh hike announced by the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS).

According to a BAJUS notification issued on Saturday, the price of gold has been increased by up to Tk 1,575 per bhori, pushing the price of 22-carat gold to a record level of more than Tk 227,000 — the highest in the country’s history. The new prices will take effect from Sunday (December 28).

Under the revised rates, the price of 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 227,856 per bhori, while 21-carat gold will cost Tk 217,534 per bhori. The price of 18-carat gold has been set at Tk 186,449 per bhori.

Meanwhile, gold produced under the traditional method will now be sold at Tk 155,423 per bhori.

BAJUS did not specify detailed reasons for the latest increase, but fluctuations in the international gold market and local market adjustments are often cited as key factors behind such price revisions.
