Inviting entrepreneurs to step forward to restart closed jute mills, Textiles and Jute Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak. He said, those who have leased the mills are not working but rather leaving them idle, raising cattle, and consuming the cows' milk, that won't do. The mills cannot remain closed.
 
Addressing a discussion with the owners of textile and jute mills at Narsingdi Shishu Academy Milnaton on Saturday afternoon (June 1), he spoke these words as the chief guest.
 
Minister  shared with Voice7 News, without good seeds, good jute production is not possible. Without good seeds, if there is no good jute production, then getting a good price is also not possible. We have to import 75% of the seeds from neighboring countries to reduce import dependency. Only 25% of jute seeds are produced in our country.
 
He further stated, if the fair price of jute is not ensured, why would farmers grow jute instead of abandoning it for vegetables? Ensuring the fair price of jute will increase enthusiasm for jute cultivation by freeing farmers from financial hardships.
 
Speaking at the exchange of views meeting chaired by Narsingdi District Administrator Dr. Badrul Alam, among others who spoke were Member of Parliament for Narsingdi-1 Nazrul Islam, Member of Parliament for Narsingdi-2 Dr. Anwarul Ashraf Khan Dilip, Reserved Women MP Farida Yasmin, Superintendent of Narsingdi Police Md. Mostafizur Rahman, and President of District Awami League GM Taleb Hossain.
 
Present at the time were Secretary of Textiles and Jute Ministry Md. Abdur Rouf and Director General of Jute Directorate Jinat Ara, among others.
 
At the end of the exchange of views meeting, the minister inaugurated a three-day multi-faceted jute product fair at Narsingdi Poura Park. Besides, in Shibpur, he inspected the Bangladesh Textile Education and Training Institute and the Horse Farm under the control of BJMC. Additionally, he visited the Madina Jute Mill under private ownership in Shibpur."
