Commerce State Minister Ahasanul Islam Titu attributed the temporary rise in commodity prices to the current rainy season and subsequent floods affecting 18 districts. Speaking at a press conference at the TCB auditorium on Saturday, Titu explained that the submerged crop fields have disrupted market supplies. He emphasized that this situation is temporary and reassured that opportunistic traders exploiting the conditions would not be tolerated. The government is prepared to take strict measures against any syndicates attempting to manipulate prices.
